My voice has been described as “Velvety Lumberjack” and I’m fine with that.

I have been performing music for over 20 years in a broad range of genres as a vocalist, guitarist, pianist, fiddle player, and banjoist. I served as music director for multiple Shakespeare companies while also composing award-winning music for theater and film. Most recently, I was living in the U.S. Virgin Island where I worked as a music teacher.

I write about music, and traveling, in the form of memoirs essays, and the occasional play.

Which Instruments I teach

I teach multiple Instruments over different skill-levels. All instruments I teach I also play.

  • Whether you want the basics of guitar skills or advanced travis-picking techniques, I can help you with my more than 25 years of playing.

    More Information

  • In our lessons we can look at music theory, sight-reading, jazz, composing – piano is the ultimate instrument for learning music in general.

    More Information

  • Whats better than a banjo? Nothing. If you’ve already got a banjo and a front porch, you’re halfway there. We can learn overhand (clawhammer, frailing, thumping . . .) or fingerpicking styles.

    More Information

  • Violin (fiddle) is certainly one of the most beautiful expressions of music. While attending traditional music sessions across the country I noticed that it was the fiddle players who called the shots and I wanted to explore that world. What followed was a journey that took me from America to Ireland to study under master-fiddle player Kevin Burke.

    More Information

  • I was a singer before I picked up any other instrument. Most recently, I’ve studied with vocal coach and opera singer Amanda Austin in the New York area. My own journey with vocals serves as an asset while teaching others.
